When Dick's health started to decline, they moved to The Commons on Marice in Eagan, where Ginny found a new community of friends. Her love for Newfoundland dogs, kindled in the 1960s, led to active involvement with the breed and a membership with the Newfoundland Club of America. Ginny was known for her creative abilities, from beautiful ceramics to intricate quilts, earning her a respected place in several quilt guilds. Dick and Ginny lived in many places before they built their home in Loretto, MN in the late 1970's. Ginny was born in Preston, MN and shortly after high school moved to California where she would connect with another Prestonian, Richard "Dick" Ott while he was serving in the army at Fort Ord, sparking a lifelong partnership. Ott, Virginia "Ginny" passed away on June 10, 2023. Visitation also on Wednesday, July 12th from 5PM to 7PM, at Washburn-McReavy Northeast Chapel, 2901 Johnson St. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Thursday, July 13th with visitation one hour prior at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 4030 Jackson St. The family wishes to thank the staff at St Anthony Park Home for their love and care. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and she will be dearly missed. Mark's family will be hosting a celebration of his tremendous life August 10, 2023, starting at 4:00 p.m. And no matter where he was, he'd be sipping a cold martini at five o'clock. He enjoyed reading trash novels, completing crossword puzzles, playing tennis, scuba diving, and throwing lavish parties. He was a true city slicker, spending weeks every summer in Montana atop a horse while herding cattle. He was a wonderful guitarist, vocalist, and a founding member of the Citizens Band in the 1970's, playing small shows with his closest friends while touring the country in his VW van with Lucy. He started as a Ramsey County prosecutor in 1971 before moving to private practice at Collins, Buckley, Sauntry & Haugh, where he finished his long career in 2014. Thomas Military Academy, the University of Notre Dame, and the University of Minnesota law school. He is survived by his son Mark (Jamie), daughter Alice (Paul) three grandchildren, Lucy, Harrison, and baby June siblings Mary Hurley, John, Annie and Jane Gehan. Preceded in death by his father Mark, mother Jean, brother Thomas, sister Katherine, and wife Lucy. aged 76, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2023, following a recent diagnosis of cancer.
